Taylor Mazzone is our new Quarterback Coach for the upcoming QBVR1 season. With an impressive coaching career spanning over a decade, Mazzone comes to us with a wealth of experience and success at both the collegiate and professional level training. Mazzone trained QBs such as Tim Tebow (1st Round 2010), Christian Ponder (1st Round 2011), Robert Griffin III (1st Round 2012) and Brock Osweiler (2nd Round 2012).


Arizona State (2010-2011)
Mazzone started his coaching career in 2010 at Arizona State University, where helped tutor Quarterback Brock Osweiler (2nd round selection of the Denver Broncos in 2012 NFL Draft) ranked 11th in the NCAA in total offense (317.4).
UCLA (2012-2015)
Mazzone next coaching stop was at UCLA, where he became the Quarterback coach at UCLA, from 2012-2014 seasons, he helped Bruins quarterback Brett Hundley in his three-year career to put up big numbers under Mazzone’s guidance. He established school career records for total offense (11,713) and touchdown passes (75) while ranking fourth in the NCAA in completion percentage (.691) and 13th in passing efficiency (152.7).

Hundley, who was selected by the Green Bay Packers in the 2015 NFL Draft, also became the first Bruin to throw for at least 3,000 yards in three different seasons. He finished his career with a school record 19 300-yard total offense games and posted his 10th 300-yard passing game against USC, a total which ranks second on that school list. Hundley leaves UCLA owning five of the school’s 10 400-yard total offense performances. No other Bruin had recorded more than two such games.
In 2015 Coach Mazzone guided Josh Rosen to be named PAC-12 Freshman of the Year. Rosen started in all 13 games … Became first Bruin true freshman to start a season-opener at quarterback … Set numerous school marks – most consecutive passing attempts without an interception (245). The Sporting News’ Freshman of the Year … USA Today 1st team Freshman All-America selection … The Sporting News’ 1st team Freshman All-America selection … FWAA 1st team Freshman All-America selection … Pac-12 Conference Offensive Freshman of the Year (coaches) … Pac-12 Newcomer of the Year (AP). Josh Rosen was selected in the 1st round in 2018 to the Arizona Cardinals.

Texas A&M (2016-2017)
Mazzone was named offensive analyst at Texas A&M in 2016-2017, During his two-year stint, Mazzone help tutor QB Trevor Knight (Free Agent 2017 Atlanta Falcons), QB Nick Starkel (Free Agent 2022 NY Jets) and QB Kellen Mond (3rd Round Minnesota Vikings) to a back to back Bowl game seasons. The Texas A&M Offense was third in the SEC in passing offense (252.2 yards per game) and totaled 53 touchdowns, which was fifth-most in the league. The offense featured WR Christian Kirk, a second round draft pick of the Arizona Cardinals who accounted for 1,631 all-purpose yards.

University of Arizona (2018-2020)
Mazzone spent three seasons (2018-2020) as the outside receiver coach at the University of Arizona.

University of San Diego (2021)
Mazzone was named Wide Receiver coach at University of San Diego, there they finished 2021 Pioneer Football League Co-Champion.

Idaho State University (2022)
Most recently Coach Mazzone was the Offensive Coordinator and QB Coach at Idaho State University. There he helped Xavier Guillory to become one of the top receivers in the FCS with 52 catches for 785 yards. Xavier earned 2nd team All-Big Sky Conference honors.

Taylor Mazzone History
Taylor attended both Ole Miss and East Carolina University where he was a member of the football teams. He spent one season at Mississippi (2005) and then transferred to East Carolina where he played quarterback and on special teams under head coach Skip Holtz.
